Avon trials two-hour beauty delivery in Brazil and Colombia

Avon is piloting a delivery scheme that would see online shoppers in Latin America receive beauty purchases in just two hours.

The U.S. beauty giant has teamed up with the on-demand delivery service Rappi to trial the new concept in São Paulo, Brazil, and Bogotá and Medellin, Colombia, making 100 of its products available for the test run. Brazil is Avon’s largest market. According to Avon, Rappi has over one million subscribers in Brazil, and a growing presence across South America.

The service will let consumers order online with a two-hour fulfilment option, before the purchases are delivered personally by Avon Representatives. The pilot, which is part of the wider ’Open Up Avon’ strategy the company is using to improve access to its products via e-commerce channels, is expected to roll out in additional Brazilian cities, as well as in Argentina, Chile and Mexico, during the first half of 2019.

"We’re delighted to be trialing this partnership with Rappi to provide a really easy way for our top-selling Representatives to serve their customers better and faster," said José Vicente Marino, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Avon Brazil, in a statement. "It isn’t just a delivery solution but potentially a whole new approach to connect with consumers."

The move is the latest in a string of exciting developments for the 130-year-old Avon brand, following the announcement of a new K-beauty skincare launch back in December, and the unveiling of a ‘Personalized Beauty App’ last October.

Victoria’s Secret or the failure of a conservative positioning?

When the Victoria’s Secret show was cancelled it didn’t come as a surprise. In May, it was reported by The New York Times that the show would no longer be broadcast on network television. “We must evolve and change to grow.
