Johnson & Johnson buys Brazilian baby care brand Hipoglós from P&G

Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) today announced the sale of P&G’s Hipoglós diaper rash cream brand in Brazil to Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

The baby care segment is strategic for J&J. “This acquisition reinforces Johnson & Johnson’s on-going commitment in investing in Brazil and in the growth of this category,” said Duda Kertész, President of Johnson & Johnson Consumo do Brasil, in a release.

The two companies expect the transaction to close in the next 4 to 6 months subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

The Hipoglós brand has been present for over 70 years in Brazil. It has been trusted during generations to care and protect babies’ skin from diaper rash.
