The Halal cosmetics global trend is driven by the interest for natural ingredients

One of the main trends of the global cosmetics market is the growing interest for products with natural ingredients. These benefits are also found in halal cosmetics, which are developed in accordance with Muslim precepts and therefore do not contain alcohol or raw materials derived from certain animals, such as insects and pigs. Global sales of the segment reached US $20 billion in 2014 and this figure is expected to double by 2019, reaching 6% of global cosmetic sales, according to market research firm TechNavio.

Manufacturers of Halal cosmetics must receive a certification attesting the absence of prohibited ingredients in the products as well as the ethical procurement of meat by-products from goats, poultry, cattle and sheep. The Halal process serves the entire Islamic community, about 1.6 billion people around the world, and is considered the second religion with more followers in the world. The contingent accounts for 23% of humanity, and in 23 countries it exceeds 90% of the population.
