Multifunctional ingredient developed by Solabia in Brazil wins innovation award

Prelliance® is a natural biotechnological ingredient used in hair care, fighting dandruff and polluting agents and making hair shinier and easier to comb.

The most innovative ingredient in Latin America was created in the innovation, research and development center at the Brazilian branch of Solabia Biotechnologies, located in the state of Paraná. Prelliance® was the winner of Gold in the Innovation Zone award, at this years’ in-cosmetics Latin America, which took place in São Paulo in September.

The multifunctional natural biotechnological ingredient is vegan and recommended for hair treatments. It is composed of amino acids extracted from quinoa, including aspartic acid, glutamic acid, arginine and serine, which are then mixed with mono-, oligo- and polysaccharides obtained from natural sugars.

According to the company, Prelliance® has a prebiotic anti-dandruff action, reducing pathogenic microorganisms on the scalp by 84%. The ingredient also acts on hair fibers, reducing damage as well as nourishing and moisturizing hair strands. With anti-pollution action, the ingredient creates a barrier around the strands, protecting the hair against some types of heavy metals.

The ingredient also provides other benefits such as shininess - due to hair fibers being covered with mono- and oligosaccharides - and making hair easier to comb, either dry or wet. All of this can be noticed from the first application, says the French multinational company.

According to Daniella Francischetti, marketing manager at Solabia, the award is more than just an incentive. It is recognition for the work of Brazilian scientists in research and development of innovative ingredients that are important for the entire industry, all over the world.

Alongside Prelliance®, two other ingredients received awards during the event. Gattefossé’s Emulium® Illustro won Silver and Symrise got the Bronze with SymReboot™ L19.

Fragrance Trends: The impact of the mineral

A solid, inorganic and crystallized substance, minerals are derived from a natural geological process. In perfume- making, minerality is a subjective concept because there is no mineral family strictly speaking.
