RIOgaleão has substantial improvement plans over the next years. After March 2016, Dufry will operate a total duty free retail space of 8,000 square meters, of which half will be in arrivals and half in departure.

The retail spaces will be located to capture the full passenger flows and will allow serving all international inbound and outbound passengers,” said Dufry.

The new space will comprise the general travel retail shop format in arrivals and departures, which will be designed according to the walk-through concept. Dufry will offer categories such as perfumes & cosmetics, wine and spirits, confectionary, as well as fashion, accessories and watches.

Tom Jobim International Airport is the second largest airport in the country and the major getaway for Brazil and South America. In 2013, the airport welcomed a total of 17 million passengers, of which 4 million were international passengers. The airport is undergoing a substantial improvement program on the infrastructure side to attend the passengers flow for the Olympic Games in 2016.
