Atelier Cologne ready to enter the Brazilian market

The young French fragrance brand, co-founded by Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel in 2009, should be available in Brazil very soon. “We have planned to launch Atelier Cologne in Brazil by the end of the year,” Christophe Cervasel told Brazil Beauty News.

The brand, which reinvented the cologne concept by using prestigious ingredients and higher concentrations in essential oils for its “colognes absolues”, is already present in 40 countries as well as in duty free areas in airports in Paris, London, and Frankfurt. Atelier Cologne also operates six standalone shops: two in New York, three in Paris and one in Hong Kong.

Last week, the brand announced its acquisition by the L’Oréal group, which could enable it to further accelerate its international development.

We are going to go on with our development strategy around wholly-owned stores, shop-in-shops, and Sephora. We already went very fast with this distribution strategy, which also includes e-commerce, since the brand has known a 100% growth per year since its creation. The idea is to continue along the same exponential lines, thanks to the group’s strength, which will help us go faster, and to make the brand grow in the points of sale where we are present today, with new customers,” explained Christophe Cervasel.

While Atelier Cologne plans to enter in Brazil through an existing beauty retail network, the brand is considering already the possibility of opening a wholly-owned store shortly after it has entered this market.

Beauty trends: Green, clean… what’s next?

It is definitely a huge wave. To be desirable, a product should be green, clean, and cool – and preferably the Indie and DNVB [1] way. Green, because naturalness has become “a basic”. Clean, because products are required to be free from any polluting or suspicious substance. Cool, because they should offer the “special Millennial” (...)
