WestRock contributes to the fight against Zika virus with solutions for repellents

With the spreading of the Zika virus outbreak in Brazil, the demand for products that protect the population against mosquitos has increased considerably. According to data from consulting firm Nielsen, sales of repellents in Brazil grew by 32.5% in volume in 2015, after growing by 6.6% in the previous year. WestRock, one of the largest global suppliers of packaging solutions, is addressing this new and urgent demand with a range of solutions that perfectly suit to sprays and dispensers for use in repellents.

Mark IV - Light and consistent vaporization, compatible with a variety of viscosities and formulations

According to Eduardo Scalese, business director for the beauty and personal care division of WestRock in Brazil, sprays or dispensers are the formats consumers appreciate the most as they are very convenient and facilitate product application and are viewed as less aggressive than aerosols. "WestRock provides adequate solutions to the needs of manufacturers such as, for example, sprays with different types of atomization to fit with the various repelling formulations, from high viscosity to high fluidity," says Eduardo Scalese.

According to the business director, the company’s portfolio includes a wide variety of solutions including pumps to be used in family packs and pumps which prevent contact of the product with metal components, protecting its active principles and ensuring the safety of the formula. "To date, there are no family-size versions of repellents on the market, but WestRock is prepared to meet this potential demand."
