Univar acquires Brazilian distributor of personal care ingredients D’Altomare Química

Univar, a global chemical distributor of industrial and specialty chemicals and related chemistry services, has acquired D’Altomare Química Ltda., a Brazilian distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients. The company will be combined with Univar’s Brazil operations.

Founded in 1972, D’Altomare services customers across Brazil through three operating divisions:

- Life Sciences, servicing the personal care, pharmaceutical, veterinary, home care industries;
- Industrial, servicing the coatings, construction, transportation, textile, leather, chemical processing, food and agriculture industries;
- and Daltrix, servicing the electronics, electrical, automation, assembly, transportation and aviation industries.

This transaction expands Univar’s geographic footprint and market presence in Brazil and across Latin America,” said Univar President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Fyrwald. “D’Altomare’s portfolio of specialty ingredients, coatings, lubricants, and adhesives are a complimentary addition to our existing product portfolio. In addition, D’Altomare has a solid reputation as a value- added and solutions-driven service provider in high-growth specialty markets including personal care, pharmaceuticals, electronics and aviation.

For more than 40 years, D’Altomare has specialized in the distribution of chemistries and specialty ingredients for the pharmaceutical, personal care, food, agriculture, transportation and other industrial markets. The company has headquarters in São Paulo, and operates distribution facilities in Embu and Manaus.

We are confident that the opportunity of combining D’Altomare with Univar will offer new potential not only for our customers, but also our suppliers and employees,” said Nita Zoppetti, major shareholder of D’Altomare.

Founded in 1924, Univar is a leading global chemical distributor of industrial and specialty chemicals and related chemistry services. Univar sources from over 8,800 producers worldwide and provides its customer base, made up of 133,000 customers, with a full portfolio of specialty products.
