UN Global Compact recognizes Beraca President as a 2016 Local SDG Pioneer

On 22 June, at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2016 in New York, Ulisses Sabará, President of Brazilian provider of natural and organic certified ingredients Beraca, a member of Sabará Group, was announced as one of ten 2016 Local SDG Pioneers. The Pioneers are made up of entrepreneurs who are championing sustainability through their business models and change makers who are mobilizing the business community broadly to take action in support of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs).

Mr. Sabará was recognized for his efforts that align with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 on Life on Land.

Each of the 2016 Local SDG Pioneers exemplifies how business can be a force for good in addressing the challenges we face as a global society,” said Lise Kingo, UN Global Compact Executive Director. “Mr. Sabará is a passionate advocate for protecting biodiversity and the environmental integrity of the Amazon. I am honoured to be selected to the first class of SDG Pioneers,” said Mr. Sabará. “I am sure that this recognition will lead to an important boost to our businesses, and will definitely promote our social and environmental projects that are in progress and to come. I hope that the SDGs will advance through a deep awareness of the delicate social and environmental time in which we live, massive outreach through social and standard media, and the engagement on the SDGs by local business leaders and the whole society.
