Natura’s profit falls by 39% in Q3 2015

Brazilian cosmetics giant Natura recorded net income of R$ 131.8 million in the third quarter, down 38.6% compared to the same period in 2014.

The company’s results are marked by a strong contrast between its operations in Brazil, impacted by the rise of local taxes, the weaker demand and the currency devaluation, and its international operations, which kept growing at a rapid pace.

Sales in Brazil fell 9.6% in the third quarter, reaching R$ 1.362 billion. In contrast, international sales, including Aesop and France operations grew by 75.8%, now representing 31.8% of total sales. Aesop ended the quarter with 120 stores in 18 countries (vs. 94 stores in 12 countries in the third quarter 2014).

In the region Latin America, net sales increased by 73.4%.
