Mary Kay launches anti-pollution mask with activated charcoal

Currently trending in hair care products, anti-pollution active ingredients are showing promising results in skin care. Activated charcoal is one of them, which also happens to be the main ingredient of Mary Kay’s Detox Clear Proof Mask, recently launched in Brazil.

Produced from the burning of specific woods, coconut shells and cork residue at temperatures of over 800°C, activated charcoal is made from a vegetable base and can be used in exfoliating sponges, micellar water and cleansing masks.

According to the manufacturer, charcoal becomes “activated” through a special heating process and becomes more porous. This transformation allows it to absorb up to twice its weight in impurities. Its natural detoxifying properties also offer a triple action, capable of unclogging pores, instantly absorbing excess oils, and allowing the skin to feel lighter.

In addition to the anti-oil and anti-pollution qualities of the product, it also contains botanical extracts and clays, kaolinite and bentonite, which help absorb excess skin oil and minimize the appearance of pores. According to Mary Kay, they also fight the effects of pollution on the skin by absorbing these pollutants. The rosemary and mint extracts in the formula create the refreshing sensation and quick-drying action after application, while the honeysuckle extract helps soften and soothe the skin.

Easy to apply at home while offering efficient results, these facial masks are growing in popularity and becoming a crucial element in home beauty routines. Mary Kay’s new launch is suitable for all skin types, including oily, dry, combination and normal skin, whose oiliness can accentuate with the climate or hormonal fluctuations. The product should be applied to the skin as per the instructions and rinsed thoroughly with warm water after a twenty minute settling period. The recommended use is two to three times a week in conjunction with a moisturizer for best results.
