ITEHPEC announces winners of the 2016 ITEHPEC Innovation Awards

The Institute of Technology and Studies for Personal Care, Fragrance and Cosmetic Products (ITEHPEC) announced the winners of the 2016 ITEHPEC Innovation Awards during in-cosmetics Latin America. The initiative recognizes innovative practices in ingredient manufacturing for the CT&F industry.

Lipotec/Lubrizol was awarded in the gold category, with DMS scoring silver and BASF taking home bronze at the awards ceremony. Marina Kobayashi, innovation manager at ITEHPEC, says the companies presented case studies that are set to be released in the market in 2017 and will further contribute to strengthening the industry. "Our goal is to create a prosperous environment and encourage the development of the industry. The awards aim to celebrate and recognize companies that excel at innovation,” says Kobayashi.
 
Now in its second edition, the ITEHPEC Innovation Awards had a 35% increase in the number of competing companies against 2015, which shows that more and more key players are starting to see innovation as a growth driver.

At the opening speech, João Carlos Basilio da Silva, president of ITEHPEC, stressed the role of innovation as one of the main pillars for the recovery of the industry and the Brazilian economy. “2015 was a challenging year for the Brazilian CT&F industry, which reported its first decline in 23 years. However, we have regained strength while investing in technology and innovation. As a result, we are starting to see better days ahead,” says Basilio.

ITEHPEC is the innovation arm of the Brazilian Association of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Industry (ABIHPEC) and aims to promote and encourage innovation, increased competitiveness and sustainable growth in the industry. It focuses on exploring business opportunities, anticipating trends, promoting knowledge and integrating available resources to meet the companies’ needs and create opportunities to add value to cosmetic products.
