Beraca was recognized for its project Pace (“Piauí, Água, Cidadania e Ensino”), carried out in the city of Curimatá, southern Piaui, where over 10,000 local residents were suffering from water shortage. Offering integrated solutions for industrial water treatment and sanitation, Beraca invested in the drilling of a well and the building of a water treatment facility to provide clean drinking water to the community.

Concerned about the future of children and youth in the region, Beraca has also invested in education by helping in the renovation of three schools and creating a learning support center which offers tutoring services, dance and music lessons, English classes and entrepreneurship courses.

"This acknowledgment helps to reinforce the importance of Beraca’s activities throughout our history. Social and environmental responsibility play a key role in our business and we believe that sustainable growth can only be achieved when there is respect for nature and human rights,” says Ulisses Sabará, president of Beraca.

Beraca is currently responsible for providing drinking water to over 47 million people in Brazil. Through its Sociobiodiversity Enhancement Program, the company also supplies natural raw materials to the global cosmetic industry by preserving the environment and fostering social inclusion. Created in 2000, the initiative benefits more than 1,600 families in 101 communities in the states of Pará, Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Piauí and Minas Gerais.
