Asian cosmetics markets to be discussed at MakeUp in Sao Paulo

Florence Bernardin

Florence Bernardin

On the occasion of MakeUp in SaoPaulo on 3 & 4 December next, Florence Bernardin, an expert of Asian cosmetics markets will present the trends and specificities of these markets during a conference “Asia : An exemplary powerhouse!” on December 4 at 5:00 p.m.

Asian beauty routines, products, textures ... are more than inspirational for the entire beauty world. Strong supporters of water-based cleansers and purification, in search of light textures they apply in layers one after another, obsessed with flawless skin and under the yoke of social pressure to achieve the ideal look, Asian women know how to combine pleasure emotion and efficiency.

Three examples show it:

- In line with the approach of traditional medicine (TCM) that focuses primarily on inner beauty, Asian cosmetics are infused with natural ingredients and the power of Nature. They try to compensate for imbalances in modern lifestyles by targeting the lack of sleep, the morning rush or a poor diet...
- In addition, to protecting the skin from signs of ageing, such as age spots, a dull complexion, a UV protection with a high SPF (i.e.,SPF 50) is a daily must, both indoors and outdoors. Pollution is a major concern and UV protections act both as a filter but also to strengthen the skin barrier function.
- Finally, hair care, from washing to styling is a daily concern, because hair colouring or perms, but also ageing or UV exposure damage the hair and scalp..., this new skin territory.

It is very interesting to note that in many ways Asian developments are very close to the expectations of women in Latin America: a clean and pure skin under a hot and humid climate, smudge proof and sweat proof formulas, products inspired from Nature, light and water-based textures, UV protection, shine-free make-up...

The aim of Florence Bernardin’s presentation will be to highlight how Asia can inspire Latin America in cosmetics!
