ABIHPEC and APEX-Brazil want to strengthen exports of Brazilian cosmetics

The Brazilian Association of Toiletries, Perfumes and Cosmetics (ABIHPEC) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil) signed a new Beautycare Brazil partnership for the internationalization of the Brazilian exporters of personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetic products. The agreement, which aims at increasing exports of cosmetic products, will be valid for two years.

According to the ABIHPEC president, João Carlos Basilio, exports of companies participating in the project have grown faster than the average rate of the cosmetics and toiletries industry. "Results of the Beautycare Brazil programme demonstrate that the project is experiencing a positive phase, supporting greater competition between companies and new investments. The project raises the Brazilian brands to a new level of technological recognition and innovation into the world," he said.

Exports of the 58 companies participating in Beautycare Brazil last year reached US$ 183.2 million, a 16% increase over 2013. This amount represented 23% of the personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics sector’s total sales on foreign markets, which reached US$ 798.2 million in 2014 - an increase of 2% compared to 2013.

"With this new agreement we expect to consolidate the image of Brazilian companies on markets where they already operate and seize opportunities to enter in other countries, seeking a continued growth of exports and internationalization," said Gueisa Silverio, manager of Beautycare Brazil.
